As a psychiatrist I’ve always been driven by a deep fascination with the human mind. It’s a landscape as complex and varied as the individuals I have the privilege of working with over the last 25 years. My journey into this field wasn’t just a career choice; it was a calling to understand the intricate interplay of neurobiology, psychology, environmental, and social factors that shape our mental well-being. I’m particularly interested in times of transition in our lives; whether you are a young adult navigating college or the complex world beyond, newly married, changing careers, processing a loss, or simply starting a new chapter in your life. I’m committed to empowering you to reduce symptoms, build resilience, develop coping skills, and ultimately, live a more fulfilling life.

I believe in a collaborative approach, where we work together to explore the challenges you are facing and develop a personalized treatment plan. Whether navigating the complexities of depression, anxiety, trauma, or other mental health conditions, my goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care and I aim to create a space where you feel truly seen and heard. Medication management can be one piece of the puzzle. Therapy, lifestyle adjustments, and a strong support system are equally important to my work with you.

I graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School, where I went on to pursue internship training in Psychiatry & Internal Medicine. Shortly after the September 11th terrorist attacks, I moved to New York City, where I trained at New York Medical College’s Saint Vincent's Hospital to complete a residency in Psychiatry with a focus on emergency & trauma psychiatry. I served as the Associate Director of the Wellness & Emergency Response Services at New York University’s Student Health Center, where I developed and led a team of mental health providers to care for 50,000 global NYU students. I currently serve as a Staff Psychiatrist & Team Lead for the Combat-PTSD Clinical Team at the Hampton Veterans Administration Medical Center in Hampton Virginia.

My clinical focus throughout my career has been the care of trauma-related injuries, emergency mental health care, and crisis response. I volunteer with several disaster response organizations, providing basic medical & mental health care after hurricanes and weather-related natural disasters. I also serve the veteran communities through suicide prevention and postvention outreach and interventions. In both of these roles, I am consistently astounded by the power and resilience of the human spirit.

I am Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology and hold licenses to practice medicine in New York, Florida, and Virginia. I live in Norfolk, Virginia with my wife, 2 daughters, and several dogs, cats, turtles, and chickens. I enjoy exploring my own limits by competing in ultra-endurance events.

I look forward to working with you.
